Closed Building Conditions (CBCs)

1. If not maintained for 12 hours prior to placement for a 48-­‐hour measurement, 25% of the results will likely reflect a false high or false low reading.
2. Not only can violating CBCs cause a ventilation effect (false low) but can spike radon which can cause a false high reading.
3. CBCs also include ensuring that ventilation mechanicals or other things that can increase stack effect are minimized prior to setting the monitors.
   • e.g. Fireplace flue, whole-­‐house fan, etc.
